Patrick G. Kiernan
Employee Benefits Specialist, Diversified Group
Get to Know Patrick
Patrick joined Diversified Group Brokerage in 1997 as an Underwriter fresh out of college. In January of 2002, he left the business to join the United States Army. He served two years in Afghanistan and he was also in the Army National Guard for 9 years, with 4 years of active duty in the Army. His rank was Sargent E5. After years of service to our country, he returned to the organization in 2013 in a new business development position. His main responsibilities consist of employee benefit sales along with retention of current groups.
There is an interesting connection between Patrick’s early years with the company and his more recent years – the fact that the challenges his clients and plan members face the most remain the same. The cost of healthcare is still the biggest concern they face. Patrick feels that employers must address three important areas: inflated hospital charges, cost of specialty pharmacy and having their employees make consumer driven decisions in regard to their healthcare. These are a few of the critical concerns that Diversified addresses every day.
Third party administrators (TPAs) have gone from simply paying claims to being a trusted advisor and a true partner for self-funded employers. Diversified provides clients and members with the information, guidance and tools they need to make educated decisions and appropriate changes regarding their health plan.
